Businesses on Glasgow street evacuated amid reports of suspected gas leak

A number of premises on a Scots street have been evacuated amid reports of a suspected gas leak. Emergency services have rushed to the scene on Gorstan Street in the Summerston area of Glasgow, near an Asda superstore.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed to Glasgow Live that they responded to reports of a gas leak at 2.47pm.

They added that they had deployed one appliance to the location where fire crews currently remain.It is understood that a hairdressers, chippy and chemist have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.A temporary cordon has also been put up as enquiries to establish the exact nature of the incident continue.An SFRS spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 2.47pm on Saturday, February 12 to reports of a gas leak on Gorstan Street."We dispatched one appliance to the scene.

Crews remain in attendance."Police Scotland confirmed that they are aware of an incident and are assisting with traffic management. .
