Rhod Gilbert diagnosed with cancer as he announces he's 'disappearing for a while'

Rhod Gilbert has revealed he will be undergoing treatment for cancer after taking to Facebook to update his fans. The comedian, 53, will receive treatment at Cardiff-based charity Velindre Cancer Centre, which he is a patron of.

In the past he has led treks around the world, hosted "chaotic quizzes and star-studded comedy nights" to help raise vital funds for the centre.

In a message posted on his official Facebook page on Thursday, 14 July, Rhod said: "As a proud patron of Velindre Cancer Centre, I’ve trekked the world, hosted chaotic quizzes and star-studded comedy nights.

I’ve met and made friends with so many inspirational staff, patients and their families. "It has been a huge part of my life for the last ten years.
