Deborah James’ mother Heather has said she will miss the late podcast star ‘forever’.Heather took to Instagram to make a touching tribute to her beloved daughter who passed away from bowel cancer aged 40 on June 28.She shared a picture of Dame Deborah, known as BowelBabe, on holiday, posing in a floral maxi dress with pink bow shoulder straps paired with a pink headband and bangles on her wrist.Heather, who goes by the name Bowelgran on Instagram, captioned the image: ‘A year ago we were on holiday with you- miss you forever.’ Dame Deborah who became an avid cancer campaigner and fundraised following her diagnosis in 2016, was laid to rest on July 20 in a private ceremony attended by close friends, family and a host of celebrities including presenters Lorraine Kelly, Gaby Roslin and McFly singer Tom Fletcher.The former deputy headteacher had gained an army of fans for her candid posts about how she navigated through her illness, including videos of her dancing as she underwent treatment.She launched the You, Me And The Big C podcast in 2018 along with friends Lauren Mahon and Rachael Bland, and went on to raise more than £6million for her Bowelbabe Fund.The author also launched a hugely-popular Rebellious Hope charity T-shirt, and was presented with a Damehood by Prince William – all while spending her final weeks at home, in hospice care, with her family by her side.In early May, she revealed that she had stopped active treatment and was receiving end-of-life care at her parents’ Woking home.Speaking of her grief on Sunday her co-host Lauren told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: ‘It’s really weird, because it’s almost like I can compartmentalise so I can come and talk to you guys about the podcast and my wonderful wonderful

It’s hard to imagine that it’s already been 16 months since the world sadly lost the late, great Dame Deborah James, but tonight the iconic cancer campaigner and broadcaster will once again be remembered as part of a special TV show Stand up To Cancer: The Takeover on Channel 4. Kicking off at 7pm, a whole host of famous faces will be drawing attention to the plight of cancer sufferers around the country amidst a mixture of light hearted entertainment from some of our favourite stars including: Davina McCall, Adam Hills, Joe Lycett and Munya Chawawa.

BBC star Rachael Bland's widower has announced he has welcomed twins with his new wife. Steve Bland, who tragically lost his BBC presenting wife Rachael Bland to cancer in 2018, has now announced that that he's become a father of three as he welcomed twins with his second wife, Amy.Taking to his Instagram, he announced to his 24.4k Instagram followers that his wife had given birth to twins as he posted a joint post with Amy showing the two twins laying next to each other.They captioned the post: "On Monday 17th April at 09:18 our beautiful family became complete" along with a blue heart and a pink heart. They continued: "Welcome to the world, our wonderful Vercell-Bland babies.

Deborah James revealed that the thought of telling her children about her diagnosis gave her nightmares. The BBC presenter died at the age of 40 in June 2022 following a highly-publicised battle with bowel cancer.  She had used her final weeks to raise money for the Bowelbabe Fund, which has now raised over £11.

Lauren Mahon has paid tribute to her late pal Dame Deborah James after the podcast they hosted together, alongside Rachael Bland, scooped up the Champion Award at the British Podcast Awards on Saturday 22 July. Dame Deborah, Rachael and Lauren started the podcast together back in 2018 as former cancer patients.There, they would discuss everything from navigating life with the disease, treatment and more. Rachael passed away at the age of 40 the same year they started the podcast, and Deborah died on 28 June 2022 following some time receiving end-of-life care for bowel cancer.
