It’s hard to imagine that it’s already been 16 months since the world sadly lost the late, great Dame Deborah James, but tonight the iconic cancer campaigner and broadcaster will once again be remembered as part of a special TV show Stand up To Cancer: The Takeover on Channel 4. Kicking off at 7pm, a whole host of famous faces will be drawing attention to the plight of cancer sufferers around the country amidst a mixture of light hearted entertainment from some of our favourite stars including: Davina McCall, Adam Hills, Joe Lycett and Munya Chawawa.

Deborah James’ mother Heather has said she will miss the late podcast star ‘forever’.Heather took to Instagram to make a touching tribute to her beloved daughter who passed away from bowel cancer aged 40 on June 28.She shared a picture of Dame Deborah, known as BowelBabe, on holiday, posing in a floral maxi dress with pink bow shoulder straps paired with a pink headband and bangles on her wrist.Heather, who goes by the name Bowelgran on Instagram, captioned the image: ‘A year ago we were on holiday with you- miss you forever.’ Dame Deborah who became an avid cancer campaigner and fundraised following her diagnosis in 2016, was laid to rest on July 20 in a private ceremony attended by close friends, family and a host of celebrities including presenters Lorraine Kelly, Gaby Roslin and McFly singer Tom Fletcher.The former deputy headteacher had gained an army of fans for her candid posts about how she navigated through her illness, including videos of her dancing as she underwent treatment.She launched the You, Me And The Big C podcast in 2018 along with friends Lauren Mahon and Rachael Bland, and went on to raise more than £6million for her Bowelbabe Fund.The author also launched a hugely-popular Rebellious Hope charity T-shirt, and was presented with a Damehood by Prince William – all while spending her final weeks at home, in hospice care, with her family by her side.In early May, she revealed that she had stopped active treatment and was receiving end-of-life care at her parents’ Woking home.Speaking of her grief on Sunday her co-host Lauren told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: ‘It’s really weird, because it’s almost like I can compartmentalise so I can come and talk to you guys about the podcast and my wonderful wonderful

Naga Munchetty broke down in tears while presenting her BBC Radio 5 Live show today (May 10).Incredibly emotional, Naga paid a touching tribute to Deborah James – known as Bowelbabe – who has been discharged from hospital and is now receiving hospice care at home after a five-year battle with bowel cancer.She touched on the topic midway through her show, which left her speechless for a few moments.The BBC Breakfast star also sounded as though she was crying as she read out Deborah's most recent Instagram post and caption.Speaking about the Bowelbabe Fund, Naga dubbed Deborah as a "fabulous woman" before revealing that it had raised more than £1million.Touching upon the You, Me and the Big C podcast that Deborah founded with Lauren Mahon and Rachael Bland, Naga spoke to Rachael's husband Steve.Naga spoke to Steve about the podcast, his wife Rachael who sadly passed away a few years ago, and how important and positive Deborah's fund is.She then went on to read out Deborah's most recent Instagram post, which was written as though it would likely be her last."All I ask if you ever read a column, followed my Instagram, listened to the podcast or saw me dressed as a poo for no reason.
