The presenter and campaigner had tuned in to the show to watch her You, Me and the Big C podcast co-host Lauren Mahon. Lauren was on the ITV news programme to chat to Richard and co-host Susanna Reid about Deborah, who in the last week has raised an incredible £6m for Cancer Research UK through her Bowelbabe fund on Just Giving but also been made a Dame for her incredible efforts, receiving the honour at home from Prince William on Friday (May 13).
Deborah, known online as Bowel Babe, was honoured for her “tireless campaigning” to raise awareness of bowel cancer. It comes after the 40-year-old disclosed last Monday (May 9) that she had moved to hospice-at-home care to treat the terminal disease after being diagnosed in 2016.
