Rare snake dies trying to gobble down poisonous centipede after 'something goes wrong'

snake was found dead with its dinner hanging out of its mouth after it was killed while trying to eat a large poisonous centipede.A visitor stumbled across the peculiar scene while walking in John Pennycamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo, Florida, US, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.The discovery marks the “first food record of any kind for the little-known rim rock species,” wildlife officials said.

They added that the species hasn't been seen there at all since 2015. The cause of death, they added, was poisoning. The FWC said that crowned snakes are usually immune to the venom of centipedes, but “something went wrong during this encounter.”"Rock species" refers to the creature's habitat, they typically live under debris, rocks or cavities in underlying limestone.
