Quarantine for travellers testing Covid-19 negative cut to five days

Quarantine for most British travellers has been shortened to five days. Today Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced that the current 14 day period of isolation for people coming from countries not on the travel corridor list would be reduced.

The new 'Test to Release' service, which will come into effect on December 15, allows people to leave quarantine after five days if they test negative for the coronavirus.

However, the tests must be paid for and be acquired from a list of approved suppliers. The cost is likely to be between £65 and £120.

In less welcome news for travellers and travel agents, the Canary Islands has been added to the quarantine list. People arriving in the UK from the popular Spanish islands from 4am on Saturday
