Two of Formula E's heavyweight teams have joined forces with the goal of dominating the sport in the coming years.Envision Racing have partnered with Jaguar Racing for the first season of the Gen3 era - the third development of the all-electric series' cars.Both Envision and Jaguar are regular title contenders and have been competing at the front of the grid in recent years.Envision were heading towards 2023 knowing they needed to find a new powertrain supplier when their current partnership with Audi comes to an end, and Jaguar have proven to be the perfect solution.
It is the first time in Jaguar's FE history that they have supplied a powertrain for a customer team.But both believe that the new partnership can help keep both teams are the front of the grid in the next homologation of Formula E cars.As a company, Jaguar Land Rover are on course to go fully electric by 2025 - and their green-fingered approach to the future also lent itself to Envision's core values."While we're in the sport, we need to find ways to stay at the sharp end of the grid and to be more competitive," Envision chief Sylvain Filippi said."As you know, the more competitive you are, the bigger your voice and we need a big voice to talk about the things that matter to us."Long story short, Jaguar were a perfect partner for us for many reasons, but it is no surprise, in the last few years, Jaguar have been super competitive, we get to now share our data and we are really like-minded companies."Formula E team chiefs are expecting an increased number of customer teams working with existing manufacturers in the Gen3 era.Mercedes, who will not enter Gen3, are working with Venturi in the current season and it is proving to be rewarding, with both teams.
