Premier League clubs discussed curtailing the season for the first time today. Richard Masters made the revelation after today’s 20 clubs had a video conference call to try and find a solution to finish the remaining 92 games.

But what might appear to be seen as a warning to clubs to fall into line, the Premier League chief executive revealed that finishing the season is now on the agenda.

The clubs have been desperate to finish the season to avoid having to repay £762m in TV money and also the underlying threat of losing sponsorship deals.

Masters said: “It was the first time we discussed curtailment – it’s still our aim to finish the season obviously but it’s important to discuss all the options with our clubs. “Obviously we reflected on
