A police officer swore angrily and punched a five-month puppy repeatedly in a horrendous attack caught on camera, a court heard.

Sergeant Martin Dunn, 48, based at Manchester Airport, can be seen in a video raining blows on the frightened dog and shouting "you little b*****d" as it yelped in pain.

The firearms officer has now been sentenced for animal cruelty after he 'saw red' and hit the springer spaniel three or four times in his garden.

Footage of the incident, which the Mirror has chosen not to show due to its harrowing nature, was played at Leeds Magistrates' Court as Dunn was sentenced on Friday, reports the Manchester Evening News.
