Police have been criticised over their response to a VE Day street party during Britain's coronavirus lockdown. Pictures and footage from a Middlesbrough street party have circulated online amid complaints residents were flouting social distancing measures which remain in place over the bank holiday weekend.
Cleveland Police went to the street gathering in the Grove Hill area of the town amid reports people were breaching the Covid-19 guidelines, Teesside Live reports.
They say people should only go outside for exercise or if it's essential. Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston responded on Twitter following hundreds of complaints via social media.
