The ceremony was live streamed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as mass gatherings are banned. Before the awards, Piers confidently joked: "This, of course, will be the time @GMB finally wins..." But it wasn’t to be Piers’ lucky night as his breakfast show, which was nominated in the best Daytime Programme category, missed out.
The gong was instead awarded to BBC’s The Repair Shop, for the show’s “passion [that] pours through the screen”. The RTS judges praised the winning show: “Produced with great confidence
