Plans for change to Champions League branded 'just like European Super League'
Champions League have been branded 'just like the European Super League' by Karren Brady.Brady has slammed UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and his proposals for the competition, which are currently set to come into affect for the start of the 2024/25 season.Under the changes, the Champions League will expand from a 32-team group stage to a 36-team league stage for it's opening round proper. Two of the additional four qualification slots are currently set to be awarded to club's based on their historic performances, which has received backlash from across Europe.Brady has not held back in her response to the plans, with the West Ham vice-chairperson slamming Ceferin and the rest of the European Club Association. In her column for The Sun on Friday, Brady wrote: “He and a group called the European Club Association are nodding to a rich boys’ club who don’t like the idea of fair competition at home leaving them without a ticket to further big bucks abroad.”She later addressed the currently undetermined method of choosing which team's will play who in the new league stage, adding: “My deep suspicion is a ranking system will be fixed to give an extra boost to the continent’s aristocrats’ chances of reaching the knockout stage of 16 clubs.”Teams will play 10 matches in the opening round, five at home and five away, but it is not yet known how their opponents will be selected. What do you make of the proposed changes to the Champions League? Let us know in the comments section below. All 36 teams will be ranked in one league table, but the 10 match schedule will mean each side faces less than a third of the teams in the competition. The additional opposition to the new format is also due to the current plans for determining who

Man Utd fans tear into flops after players 'complain about Ralf Rangnick training'
Premier League side’s flops as the players reportedly become ‘frustrated’ with Ralf Rangnick’s training sessions. The Red Devils have improved their results, if not their performances, since Rangnick took charge, but still face an uphill battle to finish in the top four. They currently sit one point adrift of West Ham, who occupy the final Champions League qualification place, with performances having been increasingly disappointing.United were dumped out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough last week, before being held to a point by relegation-threatened Burnley in their return to league action on Tuesday.Matters at the club hit another low point on Friday when ESPN reported that the United squad are ‘becoming frustrated’ with Rangnick’s training methods.Their complaints are said to centre around the fact that the German places a heavy focus on 11 versus 11 work, rather than dynamic drills.United’s interim boss has put his focus on improving his team’s organisation and shape, which has led to an improved defensive record since he replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But some players are said to have hit out at Rangnick for his ‘old fashioned’ method despite that turnaround. What do you think is the cause of Manchester United's recent problems? Let us know in the comments section...And they have now been slammed for doing so by the club’s supporters, who believe the fault for their poor form lies with the squad, not Rangnick.“They used to be so bad at 11v11, now they're better and they're complaining?” one supporter tweeted.“Hopefully they feel so strongly they put in a transfer request and request realistic wages at their new club so the move is quick,” another added.“These lot have not challenged for the big prizes for years.

Fulham denied 37-year-old player transfer because they couldn't get £10m for him
Fulham refused to sell Mark Schwarzer back in 2010 despite his dream of playing for Arsenal - slapping on a price-tag that he thinks "nobody in their right mind" would've paid.Schwarzer moved to west London in 2008 following an 11-year association with Middlesbrough, making 104 appearances across just two seasons - and helping them into the Europa League final in 2010.With Fulham suffering an agonising extra-time defeat against Atletico Madrid, Roy Hodgson left the club to join Liverpool, with Arsenal coming in for Schwarzer as Mark Hughes joined the club. The 49-year-old has now opened up about this burning desire to join Arsene Wenger at the Emirates, detailing how Fulham blocked the move with a huge asking price.Schwarzer, speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes at its launch of the 5-A-Side Bet on Leicester v West Ham, said: "My first conversation with Mark was very much, 'Hi, nice to meet you, I want to leave.' "He must have known there was an offer on the table and that I desperately wanted to go. He just told me there was no offer, he knew nothing about it, and that the club wouldn't be letting anyone leave."I ended up meeting with Mohamed Al-Fayed in his office at Craven Cottage, and he told me that if Arsenal met the value the club believed I was worth, that I could go, and if they didn't pay it, I was stuck.
