Stuart Pearce hasn’t done anything to quell Manchester United’s interest in Declan Rice. The West Ham midfielder has been in superb form over the past 18 months, and has followed up an excellent showing at Euro 2020 with England by establishing himself as one of this season’s standout stars in the Premier League.
That form has led to plenty of interest, with Rice being linked with moves to a host of clubs, including United. The Reds have already identified the 23-year-old as a transfer priority ahead of the summer as they look to bolster their midfield options, having had problems in that department this season.
Rice will take some getting though – West Ham are not keen on dispensing of their prize asset, and are thought to be demanding at least £100million for his services, while Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked.
But United are very keen on bringing Rice to Old Trafford, and judging by West Ham coach Pearce’s sell, he would fit the bill perfectly for what they’re looking for. “He’s been absolutely magnificent for us this year,” Pearce said in an interview with The Times. “My first time round at West Ham a few years ago [2017-18], I saw a young man just breaking into the team.
