Tim Allen is celebrating his 70th birthday.  The legendary comedian got his start in the world of stand-up comedy in 1975 and has not looked back since.Throughout his almost 50 years in the business, Allen has brought to life so many iconic characters.  Here's a look back at Allen's journey through Hollywood from "Home Improvement" to "Toy Story" to "infinity and beyond!" 'Home Improvement' After getting his start as a stand-up comedian, and putting in over 15 years, Allen found his big break playing Tim "The Tool-Man" Taylor on the hit ABC sitcom, "Home Improvement." The show ran on the network for eight seasons, from 1991 to 1999, and also starred Patricia Richardson as his wife, as well as Taran Noah Smith, Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Zachery Ty Bryan as his sons. The show followed Allen's character as he hosts his own show, "Tool Time," while raising his three sons.

I was a young 22-year-old kid suddenly thrust into reporting at events like the Television Critics Association press tour, where nearly everyone else around me was a crusty newspaper journo twice my age. But this was the one that was going to be a hit, inspired heavily by her own routine as the working mother aiming to “have it all.”

A new show based on the 1999 cult-classic film Galaxy Quest is currently in development at Paramount+.

Paramount Television Studios is taking a new stab at a Galaxy Quest TV series based on DreamWorks’ cult 1999 sci-fi comedy movie. The project, which is in early stages of development, is set up at Paramount+. It is executive produced by the film’s producer Mark Johnson via his Gran Via Productions. There is no concept or a writer yet. Reps for Paramount+ and Paramount TV Studios declined comment.

Variety has learned that Paramount+ and Paramount Television Studios are in the nascent stages of adapting the cult classic comedy film into a television show. At this time, the only member of the creative team officially attached is Mark Johnson, who produced the original film and would serve as an executive producer on the potential series. Paramount Television Studios and Paramount+ declined to comment. This is the latest attempt to adapt “Galaxy Quest” for the small screen. It was previously reported in 2015 that Amazon was developing a series version that would have reunited the film’s cast, but those plans ended upon the death of Alan Rickman. There have since been various writers attached to the project, though none of their versions have ultimately gone forward.

Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson rose to fame when they starred as on-screen spouses in the hit 1990s sitcom "Home Improvement." The 69-year-old actor and the 72-year-old actress played Tim "The Toolman" Taylor and Jill Taylor for eight seasons from 1991 to 1999. It was the first acting role for Allen, who was previously known for his work as a stand-up comedian. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Richardson said that she didn't believe Allen received enough recognition for his acting talent during his time on "Home Improvement." Season 2 of the holiday comedy picks up with the Calvin family back in the North Pole as Scott Calvin continues his role as Santa Claus after his retirement plans were put on pause when failing to find a worthy successor in season one. Now that he and his family have saved Christmas, Scott is finally able to put his focus toward training his son Calvin to eventually take over the “family business” as Santa Claus.
