The turnout rate reached 67.10%, slightly more than the first round of the elections — it’s the highest rate for French elections since 1981.

The socialist party Nouveau Front Populaire party garnered an estimated 29%, while France’s President Emmanuel Macron came in third with approximately 21%. The elections, which Macron called in the wake of the European vote, drew 69.7% of voters — the highest turnout for parliamentary elections since 1986.

Brothers of Italy are expected to form a coalition government with Matteo Salvini’s League and Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia. Final results are expected on Monday morning.

France’s TF1 Group has posted a positive set of results for the first half of 2022, as Covid-19 pandemic challenges which weighed on turnover in 2020 and 2021 continue to subside.

A nearly three-hour televised debate between French presidential candidates Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen on Wednesday night scored the lowest ever ratings for such a match-up. With 15.6 million total viewers, the heated exchange between the incumbent and the far right extremist was aired live on both TF1 and France 2. The market share was, however, a solid 61%.
