A Florida man is charged with kidnapping after he stole a truck with two young children inside, authorities said Monday.  Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Jonathan Pazmino Alvarez was flagged down in Tampa Monday evening by a man who said his truck had just been stolen with his two children – ages 4 and 8 – inside.  Bodycam footage showing the arrest of Kevin Smith (Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office) Deputy Alvarez pursued the allegedly stolen 2011 white Chevrolet Silverado and conducted a traffic stop "within just a few minutes," the sheriff’s deputy said in a press release.  The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as 37-year-old Kevin Smith. A video of his arrest shows Smith appearing hesitant to get out of the truck, fearing that the arresting deputy would supposedly punch him.The children can be heard telling the deputy that Smith is not their father.  A mugshot of Kevin Smith.

A Connecticut jury ordered Alex Jones to pay nearly $1 billion to families of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting for spreading lies about the massacre.  Six adults and 20 children were killed during the shooting in December 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut, just 20 miles away from where victims' families gave tearful testimony in Waterbury Superior Court during the trial.  Jones repeatedly told millions of listeners on his Infowars show that the shooting was a hoax and the victims were crisis actors.  Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones attempts to answer questions about his emails asked by Mark Bankston, lawyer for Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, during trial at the Travis County Courthouse in Austin, Wednesday Aug. 3, 2022.

The U.S. Secret Service agents said Tuesday that two of its agents were hospitalized after exposure to a "powdery substance" suspected of being narcotics.  Officers with the Secret Service Uniformed Division made a traffic stop in the 1700 Block of New York Avenue in Washington, D.C.

A man accused of twice tossing a dog over a bridge said he was instructed to do by witches, according to police.  Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement Officers responded to a call Monday, October 3, 2022, of someone tossing a dog from a bridge over water located on Highway 11 in the Fingerville area of Spartanburg County.  A mugshot of Shannon Lee Cantrell.  (Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement) A witness told officers that a man was tossing a dog off and over the bridge. Officers searched in the area below the bridge and found a man – later identified as 43-year-old Shannon Lee Cantrell – holding a dog in a choke hold.  Cantrell told the officers that "witches" told him to throw the dog from the bridge.

A California man was kidnapped in broad daylight and remains missing as of Sunday afternoon, according to local reports and police.  The Los Angles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) said two male suspects exited a 2008 silver Infiniti G-35 on Michillinda Avenue near Colorado Boulevard in the Pasadena area Thursday.  Stills of the suspected kidnapping suspects.  (LASD) The suspects were seen attacking a man on a sidewalk and dragging him into the back seat of the Infiniti, FOX 11 reported, citing LASD.  The suspects were last seen driving south on Michillinda Avenue with California license plate number 6FMY326. Anyone with information is asked to call 562-946-7150.  Fox News has reached out to the sheriff’s department for updates in this case.  The kidnapping came just days after a California family that were kidnapped at gunpoint and were missing for days were found dead.  Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said on Wednesday that their "worst fears have been confirmed" as deputies found the bodies of each of the four family members, including the 8-month-old.

A former high school teacher and coach allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old student on multiple occasions, both at his house and at the school, court records say.  Steven Mesa, 47, was arrested last month and charged with three felony counts of unlawful sexual relations with a student.  A mugshot of Steven Mesa. A Las Vegas man accused of falsely claiming to be a Harvard Business School graduate and combat veteran to defraud dozens of investors out of millions of dollars was arrested in San Diego on Tuesday evening, the FBI announced.  Justin Costello, 42, was indicted on 25 counts of wire fraud and securities fraud last week for the years-long scheme, in which he allegedly orchestrated a pump-and-dump over social media and used his investors' money to pay for his own wedding.  "Mr. Costello allegedly told many tall tales to convince victims to invest millions of dollars – money he then used for his own benefit," Nick Brown, U.S.

The remains of a woman who was murdered 18 years ago were finally identified this week using genetic genealogy, a cutting-edge field of DNA science.  The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office originally found the remains in March 2008 and a coroner determined that the woman died by homicide sometime in the fall of 2004.  Law enforcement reviewed hundreds of missing persons reports, distributed photographs of her clothing and jewelry to the media, and created a composite drawing of what she may have looked like, but the case went cold for years.  Shannon Vielguth was identified by law enforcement as the woman whose remains were found in 2008 in Sacramento.  (Sacramento County Sheriff's Office) In 2021, investigators reopened the case using genetic genealogy and were able to identify the woman as Shannon Vielguth by comparing her remains to the DNA of a close family member.  Vielguth, who was 35 years old at the time of her disappearance, had been a transient for about six months before she was murdered, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.  "Based on law enforcement records, Vielguth was most likely in Reno, NV and Sacramento in October 2004, which coincides with the time she was most likely killed," the sheriff's office said.  Scientist pipetting a DNA sample into a petri dish with a DNA profile in the background. U.S. Border Patrol Agents in Arizona discovered nine illegal immigrants hidden inside an enclosed space within a cattle trailer near the Mexico border over the weekend.  The discovery came during a traffic stop near Nogales, Arizona around 1 a.m., U.S.

North Korea fired an unspecified ballistic missile toward the East Sea on Thursday morning local time, just two days after Pyongyang sent an intermediate-range ballistic missile flying over Japan, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.  About 40 missiles have been launched by North Korea this year, including six in the past two weeks, but Tuesday's test marked the first time in five years that the country has sent a missile over Japan.  The U.S. and South Korea staged joint drills on Wednesday in response, with the USS Ronald Reagan moving into waters east of South Korea.
