Conor McGregor has accepted Oscar de la Hoya's challenge after the retired boxing champion said he could defeat the UFC star in two rounds.
McGregor will spark demand for a clash between the two after De La Hoya said the Irishman wouldn't be able to handle him in a boxing ring.
De La Hoya was asked how he he would fare in the ring with 'The Notorious' during a 'State of Combat' podcast for CBS Sports.
The 47-year-old, now a fight promoter, said "two rounds" according to Fox Business. And two-weight former UFC champion McGregor has taken that as a challenge that could inspire a money-spinning crossover fight similar to his defeat to Floyd Mayweather in 2017. “I accept your challenge, Oscar de la Hoya,” McGregor tweeted on Thursday.
