Netflix Acquires Horror-Thriller ‘Don’t Move’ Produced by Sam Raimi (EXCLUSIVE)

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Netflix has taken worldwide rights on the horror-thriller “Don’t Move,” a new genre entry from producer Sam Raimi (“The Evil Dead,” “Drag Me to Hell”). The project is led by Kelsey Asbille, breakout on the FX anthology series “Fargo” and “Yellowstone,” alongside frequent Ryan Murphy player and “The Big Short’ star Finn Wittrock. It follows a seasoned serial killer who injects a grieving woman with a paralytic agent while the two of them are isolated deep in the forest.

Nicolas Cage’s ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ Acquired by RLJE Films

Katie Reul editor RLJE Films has acquired the North America, U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand rights to “Sympathy for the Devil,” an upcoming psychological thriller starring Nicolas Cage (“Mandy”) and Joel Kinnaman (“The Suicide Squad” film series). An agreement was reached between RLJE Films chief acquisitions officer Mark Ward and Christian Mercuri’s Capstone Global, an international company in charge of the feature’s global sales. “This is our eighth collaboration with Nicolas Cage, which includes ‘Mandy’ — a critically-acclaimed film that has a huge cult following,” Ward said. “Once again, he doesn’t disappoint. RLJE Films has snapped up rights to the psychological thriller Sympathy for the Devil, starring Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage (Mandy) and Joel Kinnaman (Suicide Squad films), for North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Revamped Capstone in Toronto With ‘Prisoner’s Daughter’ and New Slate of Pics

Production on the film is underway in Las Vegas. Capstone Global is handling worldwide sales on the film, and will introduce it to buyers during the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. Written by Luke Paradise (“Lost on a Mountain in Maine”), “Sympathy for the Devil” follows “The Driver” (Kinnaman) as he finds himself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse after being forced to drive a mysterious man known as “The Passenger” (Cage). That sets things up for a white-knuckle ride.
