‘Bridesmaids’ Director Paul Feig to Helm Bad Roommate Thriller for Blumhouse

Brent Lang Executive Editor He’s already dramatized the carnage that can ensue after eating at an iffy Brazilian steakhouse in “Bridesmaids” or performing an emergency tracheotomy at a Denny’s in “The Heat.” Now, Paul Feig will show the chaos that can be caused by a bad roomie. The filmmaker, best known for comedies like “Spy,” will direct a new feature film for Blumhouse, the production company behind horror hits like “The Purge” and “Get Out.” It’s based on a New York Magazine article by William Brennan that has already led to the Netflix unscripted television series “Worst Roommate Ever.” Blumhouse produced the series, which has been a popular success — its first two seasons both ranked among the 10 most-watched shows on Netflix globally when they premiered. Feig’s film will follow a newly single woman who finds a “seemingly perfect gentleman” to sublet a spare room in her home.
