Nursery leaks secret report of concerning mistakes - including how child almost escaped
dailystar.co.ukparents "very worried" after they accidentally leaked a secret memo detailing their mistakes on to a parent's app. One of the more worrying errors saw a child nearly escape out of a gate that had been left open, reports LeicestershireLive.
Others included a boy getting stuck in the loo, a child being left alone in the bathroom, and a toddler left to sit with dried faeces on his leg.Staff at Welcome Nurseries, who own the Smarties nursery in Enderby, accidentally posted the message on the Family nursery app which it uses to communicate with parents.One message saw a staff member remark that they "wouldn't be surprised if OFSTED don't turn up by the end of the week."The document was quickly taken down and was replaced with a notice telling parents it had been posted in error by a member of staff at the firm's head office.
Responding to the revelations after conducting their own invetigation, the company said the runaway child in June 2021 was stopped thanks to the building's CCTV cameras.
The tot was then stopped before he could enter the car park.A member of staff reported the incident to the then-manager and deputy manager — but did not report the incident to the child's family, to head office or Ofsted, the company admitted to LeicestershireLive.One parent who asked to remain anonymous said: "The entire post is very worrying, but my child attends the nursery section so I am particularly concerned that a member of staff was using antibacterial wipes on the babies' bottoms."I definitely haven't been told about it and only found out due to the letter.
