North Korea builds 1,000 homes in bid to make 'holy site' a 'modern socialist village'

according to state media on this week.The project was part of a huge development programme taking place in the birthplace of leader Kim Jong-un's later father Kim Jon-il.According to the North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), developing the city has been one of the supreme leader's key projects since replacing his father in 2011.The area is known as a holy place, and it is hoped that the houses will turn “the holy place of the revolution into the modern socialist villages good to live in”.Although absolutely no details of the interior of the homes, or the price, has been released, from the outside they appear to be large bungalows with little farm plots outside – similar to what you would find in the heartlands of America.
