The nursing home that has been heartbreakingly hit by the ­pandemic gave a rare glimpse into its day-to-day life – both the tragedy and the laughter.

Moving pictures show a carer dancing with a resident at Newfields in Sheffield where for three days amazing staff took it in turns to hold a dying man’s hand One of those offering round-the-clock comfort was Kayleigh Jupp, 27, who survived the virus but said it was like being “hit by a train”.

These moving photos reveal a rare glimpse of day-to-day life inside the nursing home that has been hit by the pandemic. Newfields in Sheffield is one of three run by Palms Row Health Care, which have lost 18 residents after testing positive for Covid-19.
