Michael Owen's daughter has blasted "nasty" claims that she's "living off daddy's money" in a bombshell interview. Gemma Owen, 18, is making waves in a different way to her football legend dad after launching her debut OG Beachwear collection last week. The teenager received mostly positive feedback after modelling some of the lines herself, but some online trolls accused Gemma of living off her dad's money - an accusation she did not respond well to.

Gemma, who is also a successful dressage rider with Team GB, addressed the comments in an interview with the Daily Mail."In my dressage, if I'm doing well, I get comments like 'you're only doing well because daddy bought you an expensive horse' and then with me trying to set up my own business I get 'you're using daddy's money,'" she began. "It's constant but I want to make it clear to people that with the business side of things it hasn't been an open wallet."Gemma revealed that the money she had been given for her birthday was the initial budget for the business. But now that cash has run out, she's going to have to wait before further enhancing her fashion brand."I am extremely lucky but I would say my dad has actually been… not tight, but he's been quite tough.

He said this is your budget and I'm not funding this," she added. Gemma has over 24,000 followers on Instagram and is the eldest of Owen's four children with wife Louise. She added that while her dad - the ex-Liverpool and Manchester United striker - encouraged her to pursue her sporting dreams, it was her mother who drilled into her the importance of being able to stand on her own two feet financially.
