Actor Max von Sydow has died at the age of 90 at his home in France, his agent has confirmed. His agent Jean Diamond said in a statement: "It is with a broken heart and with infinite sadness that we have the extreme pain of announcing the departure of Max von Sudow, March 8, 2020." Born Carl Adolf von Sydow in Sweden, the actor, who is a French national, died just a month before his 91st birthday.
He is survived by his wife Catherine Brelet and his four children, two of which are from his first marriage to actress Christina Inga Britta Olin.
The actor had a wide and varied career, though one of his most recognisable roles in recent history was as the Three-Eyed Raven in three episodes of Game of Thrones in 2016.
