A former gold miner who drank two cans out out-of-date tonic water died suddenly shortly after in a suspected case of poisoning.
Fears have been raised because Kevin James Nunn is the second Australian man to have died in Bali this week and the third in a month.
Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, the chief of police for Balinese capital Denpasar, said 68-year-old Mr Nunn first complained about chest pains shortly after sipping from a can of tonic which was reportedly past its sell-by date.
He told the Courier Mail: “At 9am the victim told his wife Arianti that (he) felt sick on his chest, and around 10am the victim entered his room to lay down.” There’s also local speculation that leptospirosis, a disease spread by rat urine, might be the cause.
