Von Sydow was known for his collaborations with Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, before he found success in Hollywood with roles in The Exorcist and Hannah and Her Sisters.
More recently, von Sydow was known for his roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and as the Three-Eyed Raven in Game of Thrones.
Wright called von Sydow an “iconic presence in cinema for seven decades,” adding that it “seemed like he’d always be with us”. “He changed the face of international film with Bergman, played Christ, fought the devil, pressed the HOT HAIL button & was Oscar nominated for a silent performance.
