Lorraine Kelly shares secret job before TV career as she admits she was 'the worst'

Lorraine Kelly CBE revealed that she was branded as the "worst waitress in Glasgow" before landing her big TV spot on ITV in a recent podcast.The 62-year-old mum spoke to the drag queen Vanity von Glow on her recent podcast where she opened up about her life before making it as big time broadcaster.The ITV host reminisced on her waitressing days at the start of her career, when she worked in a trendy Glasgow bar for "free dinners" to top up her income from the BBC.Lorraine said: "I was the worst waitress in Glasgow."The journalist revealed that she worked a trendy disco spot called Pizzazz in Glasgow as she "needed the money" as her BBC paycheck when she first started off was not making ends meet.Lorraine said: " I just got a job at the BBC and my salary virtually halved from working in local newspapers.""So I needed to work as a waitress at night, you get fed, you got your dinner, which was great.

And I just needed the money."In the chat Lorraine spoke jovially about she was a rubbish waitress. She said: "Honestly, I was there for comic relief, I think, and I don't mean the charity just for comedy - it was great."She added: "It was a great time to be young and daft and experiment.

And thank God, there was no social media!" Since her days waiting tables and tending to customers, Lorraine has established herself as a respected journalist.

The Glaswegian native bagged her own ITV show, Lorraine, more than a decade ago in 2010.In 2020, the presenter had been awarded with a CBE - the highest ranking Order of the British Empire award.
