2023 BET Awards are ready to celebrate Black excellence across music, television, film and sports, and the nominations are stacked.This year's list of nominees — announced by the network on Thursday — is led by Drake, who scored the prize of most nominated with seven nods, including Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Group with 21 Savage and Best Collaboration with Future and Tems. GloRilla reigns as the most nominated woman of the night with six nominations, including Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best New Artist, Album of the Year for  and Video of the Year for «Tomorrow 2» with Cardi B.21 Savage and Lizzo earned the third-highest number of nods, with five nominations each, followed by Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice and SZA with four nominations each. Cardi B, Coco Jones, FLO, Future, Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, Maverick City Music & Kirk Franklin and Tems round out the rest of the list of multiple nominations, tied with three nods each.While «culture's biggest night» hasn't named a host yet, last year's show was hosted by Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actress Taraji P.

Memphis rapper Glorilla nearly meets him at a tie, clocking in with six recognitions as the 2022 winner of BET’s breakthrough hip-hop artist of the year. Among his nominations, Drake is up for best group alongside 21 Savage, best collaboration with Future and Tems for their radio favorite “Wait for U,” and album of the year for “Her Loss.” Glorilla competes with Drake in the best collaboration category twice — once for her feature with HItkidd (“F.N.F. Let’s Go”) and Cardi B (“Tomorrow 2”). The Memphis rapper is also up for album of the year for “Anyways, Life’s Great.”

That’s according to early, time zone-adjusted ratings from Nielsen, which includes out-of-home viewing — but keep in mind, that number could change when the final nationals are in. The Oscars, which repped the return of host Jimmy Kimmel for the first time since 2018, was up 12% from last year’s ratings. And according to those time-zone-adjusted fast-national numbers from Nielsen, it bested the previous year’s 3.8 rating by 5% in key adults 18-49, earning a 4.0 in the demo.

Tom Cruise is missing from Oscars night due to his work schedule. "Top Gun: Maverick" is nominated for six awards but Cruise, 60, won't be there to accept any if the film wins, as he's back in the United Kingdom filming "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part II," Fox News Digital can confirm.  The film has been nominated for best picture, writing, film editing, sound, music and visual effects and was featured heavily in the award ceremony's opening movie montage. The actor's co-stars appeared on the red carpet ahead of the award show and also confirmed his absence.

Lady Gaga delivered an emotional performance of ‘Hold My Hand’ from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack at the Oscars 2023.The annual awards show is taking place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles tonight (March 12), where each of the nominees for Best Original Song is performing.Gaga was not confirmed to perform before the ceremony got underway, although it was reported earlier today that she would appear. Taking to the stage unannounced, the star had changed from the dramatic black gown she sported on the red carpet into a simpler outfit of charcoal grey t-shirt and jeans.“I wrote this song with my friend BloodPop for the film Top Gun: Maverick in my studio basement,” she said, introducing the song from a stool.

William Earl WME has acquired BDA Sports Management in a deal that will elevate BDA leader Bill Duffy to head of basketball representation for WME Sports. WME invested in BDA Sports Management in 2020. The buyout unveiled Thursday brings Duffy and his operations into the WME fold. BDA at present represents such hoops stars as Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Dončić, the Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes, Oklahoma City Thunders’ Chet Holmgren, the New York Knicks’ RJ Barrett, Anfernee Simons of the Portland Trail Blazers and Grant Williams of the Boston Celtics. “It is hard to name a basketball agent more respected across the league than Bill. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have him and his team fully join WME Sports as we continue this chapter of tremendous growth,” said Karen Brodkin and Josh Pyatt, co-heads of WME Sports. “BDA has been a great addition to WME Sports as a whole and we’re excited to continue building on this success.”
