The Oscars, which repped the return of host Jimmy Kimmel for the first time since 2018, was up 12% from last year’s ratings. And according to those time-zone-adjusted fast-national numbers from Nielsen, it bested the previous year’s 3.8 rating by 5% in key adults 18-49, earning a 4.0 in the demo.

Lady Gaga delivered an emotional performance of ‘Hold My Hand’ from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack at the Oscars 2023.The annual awards show is taking place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles tonight (March 12), where each of the nominees for Best Original Song is performing.Gaga was not confirmed to perform before the ceremony got underway, although it was reported earlier today that she would appear. Taking to the stage unannounced, the star had changed from the dramatic black gown she sported on the red carpet into a simpler outfit of charcoal grey t-shirt and jeans.“I wrote this song with my friend BloodPop for the film Top Gun: Maverick in my studio basement,” she said, introducing the song from a stool.

Tom Cruise is missing from Oscars night due to his work schedule. "Top Gun: Maverick" is nominated for six awards but Cruise, 60, won't be there to accept any if the film wins, as he's back in the United Kingdom filming "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part II," Fox News Digital can confirm.  The film has been nominated for best picture, writing, film editing, sound, music and visual effects and was featured heavily in the award ceremony's opening movie montage. The actor's co-stars appeared on the red carpet ahead of the award show and also confirmed his absence.

William Earl WME has acquired BDA Sports Management in a deal that will elevate BDA leader Bill Duffy to head of basketball representation for WME Sports. WME invested in BDA Sports Management in 2020. The buyout unveiled Thursday brings Duffy and his operations into the WME fold. BDA at present represents such hoops stars as Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Dončić, the Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes, Oklahoma City Thunders’ Chet Holmgren, the New York Knicks’ RJ Barrett, Anfernee Simons of the Portland Trail Blazers and Grant Williams of the Boston Celtics. “It is hard to name a basketball agent more respected across the league than Bill.
