The Tree of Knowledge mural, created by Stockport-born Alan Boyson, was retained when the Cromwell Secondary School for Girls was knocked down.

The relief mural, erected on an exterior wall of the school building in 1962, was given Grade-II listed status following a successful local campaign in 2009.
