Landlords will soon have no choice but to allow their tenants to have pets

dogs and cats - but you live in a rented property - you may soon be able to get the pet of your dreams.It's said that having a pet can actually hugely help to boost your mood after a busy day at the office, and also simply provides that often much-needed company around the house.

According to the the Telegraph, there have been drastic changes when it comes to landlords being able to ban people keeping pets in their properties.

The rule is set to change on June 16 in line with the Renters Reform Bill.What's been dubbed as the "no fault" Section 21 evictions are also going to be binned, which permit property investors to remove tenants for no reason at all.

A government source told the Daily Mail : "Not only will our new deal for renters extend the decent homes standard to the private rented sector, we’ll also give tenants a legal right to have a pet if they wish. "Would-be pet owners are being unfairly deprived of the company and companionship of an animal by their landlords – so we’ll change the law to end this unfairness."Despite this, Housing Secretary Michael Gove, is also preparing to hand landlords the power to demand insurance to cover the damage that pets could cause to properties.
