The killer convicted for the murder of UK student Meredith Kercher has been released early from jail, officials have confirmed.
Rudy Guede was sentenced to prison in Perugia, Italy for murder and sexual assault back in 2007, according to the Mirror. The 34-year-old was originally handed a 30-year jail term for the following year, however this was cut to 16 years.
Guede was then granted day release in 2017 before being officially freed today by magistrates in Viterbo. He was found guilty after his fingerprints were found at the murder scene, but has continued to plead his innocence.His lawyer Fabrizio Ballarini said: "It’s the conclusive moment of a very sad affair.“First thoughts must go to the victim and her family.
