Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

ITV viewers tuning into Quiz, the three-part drama based on the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? cheating scandal of 2001, were left stunned when they spotted a familiar face.

Episode two of the series based on true events saw the moment Charles Ingram took to the hotseat on the show, alongside host Chris Tarrant.

Charles went on to win the top prize of a million pounds, despite not knowing the answer to several questions and making big guesses.

His odd behaviour sparked concern something wasn't right - with coughing heard from the audience also leading producers to believe Charles was cheating.
