Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

Quiz fans think Charles Ingram is innocent after he says show is more accurate than court

Quiz viewers were convinced Charles Ingram could be innocent after seeing the show. It comes as the major insisted the TV mini series was "more accurate" than the court case which proved he cheated to win the Millionaire jackpot.

Charles and his wife Diana were found guilty of trying to steal a million pounds after they enlisted they help of quiz master Terence Whittock.

Whittock would cough at the right answers when Charles read them aloud during the show. But Quiz put a spin on the show to make the audience think the Ingrams could have been innocent despite the charges.
