Channel 4 mini series was first broadcast in 2021 and has since been nominated for numerous awards, including several BAFTAs, with the programme celebrated at a panel event at the BFI and Radio Times TV Festival 2022.
Speaking at the festival, It's a Sin writer Russell T Davies revealed a behind the scenes secret from the programme, explaining that there was a nod to singer Beyonce in the scene where Roscoe leaves home during episode one.The scene sees Roscoe leave home on September 4, 1981 - the same day that Beyonce was born.However, he added that there was no way to show that it was Beyonce's birthday on screen, saying: "There was no way of doing it, but the scene where Roscoe leaves home, where he faces his parents and tells them to find him at 23 P**s Off Avenue London W F**k and he walks out into the rain – that is the day that Beyonce was born.
