I thought, ‘I’m onto something here’. From then, we just focused on weddings and the business grew and grew and grew.The business is now financially secure due to the wedding income - I have over 50 staff and we hold over 100 weddings a year.
We’ve got bookings right up to 2024. Obviously we were affected by Covid. But during Covid I was able to revisit the original aims of the farm and recreate a corporate events arm.
You can’t work for something like the NHS and then just become this pure profit-making business. I needed to have a wider sense of purpose and I loved the focus on the wellbeing of staff.
Now, businesses come and do team-building, stress management and strategy days. Since I’ve left the NHS, I’ve never looked back.
