Britain's loneliest street" has refused to move from the eyesore of a location after splashing out £2,000 on decorating his home.Nick Wisniewski, 67, has the luxury of no neighbours after residents in 128 flats were moved out of last year, with 200 residents upping sticks and heading off to pastures new.But not Nick, who has stayed at the Stanhope Place property in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, despite it being scheduled for demolition.READ MORE: Pupils fume at 'animal' treatment as school closes toilets with 'humiliating' barriersThe 67-year-old claims that he has had no contact with council chiefs since November 21, with the retired bank worker adamant on staying at the property.He does admit however that the place is a bit of an eyesore, with rubbish piled up in the car park outside of his flat, and with nobody to clean the communal areas of the block of flats, the place has fallen into a bit of a state.Despite an impending demolition and several attempts to buy out the house from Nick, the pensioner has refused to move and instead bought new living room carpets.Nick said: "I have painted the whole flat and done some wallpapering in the hall and living room.

I put up some wood panelling in the hall, it’s looking really nice."I had to get a new cooker too, so all in I think it costs me between £1,500 and £2,000.

I'm not worried about spending money on the flat because I think I am going to be here for a while, I have still heard nothing from the council."If they want me to go they need to get in touch with me.

The last time I spoke to anyone from the council about it was November 2021, it’s absolutely shocking."The former bank worker had stern words for people using the car park as their own personal "s**t tip", adding.
