A jealous chef who threatened to slice up his partner’s face to make her look like The Joker in Batman movies has been jailed for 32 months.Dragos Henter pinned Alison Bruce down on a restaurant floor at knifepoint during a four-year campaign of violence and controlling abuse.Dundee Sheriff Court heard that in February 2020, she was parked in her taxi outside a restaurant when Henter came out and told her he would slash her if she spoke to other men.Fiscal depute Gavin Burton said: “He said if he ever saw her speaking to another male he would get a screwdriver from his car and slash her across the face to make her look like The Joker.

This made her extremely distressed.”Henter, 30, from Kelty in Fife, admitted charges including assaults, violent bullying and controlling behaviour against Ms Bruce from 2018 until he was caught with a knuckleduster in 2022.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael told him: “A custodial sentence is needed to reflect society’s disapproval of this type of conduct – to punish you and deter others from similar behaviour.” Imposing a further 12 months supervised release, Sheriff Carmichael added: “You are assessed as posing a danger and the charges represent a course of conduct of domestic abuse by you.”Henter was also banned from forming any relationship with a woman without telling social workers and ordered to stay away from Ms Bruce for five years.
