Todd Spangler NY Digital Editor Disney+ subscribers will be able to jump into the Quantum Realm next month when “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” hits the streaming service. The film, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Jonathan Majors, will come to Disney+ worldwide on May 17. That’s 89 days after “Quantuamania” opened wide in the U.S. on Feb. 17. “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” has been one of the worst-reviewed Marvel movies to date. It hauled in $213 million at the domestic box office during its theatrical run and grossed $261.6 million worldwide; the movie had an estimated production budget of $200 million.

But after doing comedy (“Blockers”), drama (HBO’s “Big Little Lies”) and sci-fi-tinged mystery, growing up on screen takes on new meaning in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” where — spoiler alert — she gets to participate in the series’ size-changing action as Cassie Lang, the daughter of Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) Ant-Man. Newton had previously auditioned for another role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and though she didn’t divulge which one, she tells Variety how that experience paved the way for her to play a character who could become part of the next generation of MCU superheroes.

Back in December 2020, it was announced that Kathryn Newton would be taking on the role of Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania acts as a direct line into 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.The synopsis for Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania reads: “Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp.”“Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.”The film also sees the return of Jonathan Majors as Kang, and original Ant-Man villain Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) as MODOK.

Michelle Pfeiffer started her week on Monday night with a glamorous look at the Los Angeles premiere for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.The 64-year-old blonde bombshell stepped out in a stunning black gown at the premiere, held at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles.The actress - who recently opened up about stepping away from the Hollywood spotlight - was also seen cheerfully reuniting with her co-star Kathryn Newton.Pfeiffer stepped out in a stunning full-length black gown that fell to the red carpet, with her blonde locks flowing just past her shoulders.The Scarface star also accessorized with large gold hoop earrings and gold bracelets that went over the sleeves of her dress.
