AI and metaverse technologies, we might finally be getting closer. That's at least the view of one Russian billionaire, Dmitry Itskov, who believes people will one day be able to live forever by Itskov, who made his fortune with a Moscow-based media company, is part of the '2045 Initiative' which aims to "eliminate aging and even death" and to overcome the limits of the human body. The project argues that artificial bodies will appear by 2045 which will allow people to move out of their old bodies and into new ones with the help of the Internet.

In the 2045 Initiative's manifesto, Itskov says: “People will make independent decisions about the extension of their lives and the possibilities for personal development in a new body after the resources of the biological body have been exhausted.”The concept, called mind-uploading, would see people make digital copies of their minds that could live freely in cyberspace, unrestricted by biology.Companies like Elon Musk's Neuralink are researching brain-computer interfaces which could form the basis of future whole-brain uploading.Itskov is not the only one who thinks advanced metaverse technologies hold the key to long life.Self-described futurist Tom Cheesewright told the Daily Star that tech could one day let us "input our consciousness" into AI and VR robots, but that we're still some way off from achieving this.

He said: "Ultimately I think it is possible."You'd have to download the software of your whole body and recreate that in a way the brain feels is plausible.
