How Set Photographers Are Taking to the Streets to Capture Images of the COVID-19 Pandemic and Black Lives Matter Protests

Zoe Hewitt At a time when Black Lives Matter protests and pandemic lockdowns coexist, some of the set photographers of IATSE Local 600 have taken their craft to the streets to document this historic period.Award-winning photographer Frank Masi (“The Tomorrow War”) was in Atlanta on the Dwayne Johnson starrer “Red Notice” in March when the entire cast and crew were sent home with less than 24 hours’ notice as production shut down due to the coronavirus.

Empty sets have remained fully dressed, and crew gear has been locked on trucks as everyone shelters at home. Masi, who is sheltering at his residence in Los Angeles, decided to capture a time capsule of the environs.
