A homeless burglar caused more than £15,000 worth of damage when he sneaked into student halls and started a fire in a Spice-fuelled rampage.
Michael Kitson, 61, burgled two of the flats before starting a fire on a mattress on July 13 last year. He was jailed for three-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary and one count of arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.
Leeds Crown Court heard Kitson entered Fairbairn Residences in the city centre through an unlocked basement and spent several hours in the building.
Prosecutor Chloe Fairley said Kitson moved furniture out of one flat into the hallway and tried to remove a TV from the wall.
