Holby City fans will be devastated after show bosses confirmed the final episode will go to air later this month. The popular BBC medical drama has been on screens for 23 years with viewers who were desperate to save the show left heartbroken at its demise.Fans have raised petitions and campaigned on social media in a bid to change BBC bosses minds about the axe - but their efforts have failed.Now the BBC has announced that the last ever instalment of the show will have aired by the end of the month and the cast and crew have already wrapped filming.At the time of announcing the show would be ending, the BBC admitted it was a tough decision.The end of the series was announced on Twitter in a post that read: "We’re very sorry to bring you the sad news that Holby City will come to an end in March next year, after 23 amazing years. "We are so very grateful to all of Holby’s wonderful cast, crew, writers, producers - and to our millions of loyal viewers and fans for being part of our show.""This tough decision reflects the BBC’s commitment to make more programmes across the UK and to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country.
Holby will remain on air on Tuesdays until next March, and we will continue to bring you a regular dose of all things Holby right here until then.
