A man was caught in possession of thousands of indecent images of children. But after being told by police he was under investigation Mark Donaghey replaced his seized devices and carried on sourcing more similar vile images.
In total police established he had 8000 images. At Chester Crown Court yesterday he was sentenced to five years imprisonment after pleading guilty to possession of category A indecent images of children, possession of category C indecent images of children, making a category A image of a child, making a category C image of a child and two counts of the possession of prohibited images of children.
An investigation started in February 2023, when officer searched his home on Elaine Close, Ellesmere Port, following information that revealed the internet IP address attributed to it was being used to access indecent content involving children.
During the search, officers seized several digital devices and the 59-year-old was arrested.
