Social Security Scotland has confirmed thousands of people claiming Carer’s Allowance will receive two one-off payments for £288.60 - totalling £577.20 - before the end of this year.
Carer’s Allowance Supplement is an automatic payment made in June and December by the Scottish Government to recognise the important contribution made by unpaid carers.
The payments are administered by Social Security Scotland and made separately from Carer's Allowance, which is now worth £81.90 each week due to the April uprating.
To qualify for the automatic devolved payment in June, people need to be in receipt of either Carer’s Allowance from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), or the newly launched Carer Support Payment from Social Security Scotland, on April 8, 2024.
