hospital, with seven in a critical condition, after a hazardous materials incident in a hotel pool. One of those involved in the incident at the Hampton Inn in Marysville, Ohio, was a two-year-old girl who fell unconscious into the water.
The first 911 call was made at around 5.30pm on Saturday, before several other calls reported people feeling dizzy or having a burning feeling in their throats.
Authorities were deployed, quickly evacuating the hotel and rushing those impacted to hospital. Marysville Police Chief Tony Brooks has said that an investigation is underway into the incident, to determine whether it was caused by a chemical in the pool or a carbon monoxide leak.Brooks also said that all of the people were alive, but that there was no further update on their conditions.
Ohio-based journalist Mike McCarthy tweeted: "At least 16 people have received medical care. "7 people are in critical condition. "2 people were treated at the scene. "Others are in stable condition or were walk-in patients at Memorial Hospital."It has been reported that six of the seven critical patients were taken to Memorial Hospital, with the other one rushed to OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital.Two of the stable patients were also taken to OhioHealth Grady Memorial Hospital.
