Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

A “goofball” rescue dog who struggled to find a home has gone from “zero to hero” – by turning rescuer to help ­injured koalas in the aftermath of Australia’s ­catastrophic bushfires.

Border collie-koolie cross Bear, five, has detected more than 100 injured, sick, dehydrated or starving koalas, boosting the odds of conservationists saving the endangered species.

The recent fires destroyed 110,000 sq km of forest and while they are over, the fight for survival continues. Dr Romane Cristescu, Bear’s handler from the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, said: “Some places have burned so much, it may take decades to recover. “We’re still finding animals struggling to find food, on the edge of starvation.
