Giorgio Armani donates $1.4 million to Italian hospitals to tackle coronavirus

Milan-based designer Giorgio Armani has donated $1.4 million to help tackle Italy's coronavirus outbreak.It comes as the health system in the Lombardy region of northern Italy is said to be 'a step away from collapse' as intensive care facilities come under enormous pressure and the death toll from COVID-19 continues to rise.Armani donated the money to three Milan-based hospitals as well as Rome's Spallanzani hospital and the Civil Protection Agency, a company spokeswoman said on Monday.

Georgio Armani, who held his Milan fashion show behind closed doors last month, is donating $1.4 million to hospitals in Milan and Rome as Italy placed in lockdown over coronavirusAs of Monday night, 460 people in Italy have died and more than 9,000 have.
