Four boys have been charged in connection with the latest blaze at Kilmarnock Rugby Club on Sunday night. The youths - aged 14, 12, 12 and 12 - will be reported to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration following the incident which saw the sports facility targeted for the third time this year. The fire took hold around 9.15pm on Sunday, within the stand at Kilmarnock Rugby Club on Queen’s Drive.
Inspector Iain Farmer of Kilmarnock Police Office said: “Again, this community facility has been the target of a wilful fire-raising.
This facility is run by volunteers and members of the Rugby Club, who again have to find funding to cover the cost of the damage caused in preparation for the new season of activities due to commence this weekend.“This type of behaviour is unnecessary and not socially acceptable within our community.
I wholly condemn this sort of act, and at such an available inclusive community facility which everyone can use.“We continue to work with our partners as part of the ongoing Summer Campaign, where joint patrols will continue.
